He called on the two sides to continue their coordination in actualising the agreement signed by the two Politburos, agreements and plans reached at the 38 th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Inter-governmental Committee as well as outcomes reaped during visits by the two countries’ leaders.

The Vietnamese Party and State always attach importance and give the top priority to consolidating and enhancing the special relationship with Laos, the host affirmed. Vietnam will do its utmost to help the neighbouring country successfully organise events of the 2016 ASEAN Year which is ran by Laos as the ASEAN Chair, President Tran Dai Quang promised.

The President also spoke highly of the coordination of the Lao Presidential Office and Khammeung Phongthady himself in preparing for his visit to Laos last June.

For his part, Khammeung Phongthady informed his host about outcomes of the talks between the two offices, saying they agreed upon a working schedule in the time ahead, focusing on enhancing their advisory roles in internal and external affairs for high-raining Party and State officials.

Over the past years, the two sides have paid specialheed to improving the quality and efficiency of their affiliation in education-training and human resources development. Currently, nearly 9,300 Lao officials and students are studying in Vietnam while 425 Vietnamese students are learning in the neighbouring country.

Bilateral collaboration in transport, science-technology, social affairs, agriculture, communication, employment, culture and tourism have also received due attention of the two sides. Of note, links between the two countries’ ministries, agencies and localities have been tightened, spanning the realms of infrastructure development, health care and personnel training.
