PM Nguyen Tan Dung stresses that the MONRE should enhance effective management and extraction to the nation’s natural resources
PM Dung made the statement during a conference held by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) on January 7 to implement the sector’s 2014 tasks.
He urged the MONRE to enhance its State management capacity along with improving institutional and legal regulations and policies on natural resources and environment.
The Ministry needs to better inspection, examination and punishment to violations in natural resource and environmental protection to serve the country’s socio-economic development towards sustainability.
The Government leader asked the MONRE to extract effectively the nation’s natural resources, particularly land, water and mineral resources.
He also stressed the sector’s role in hydro-meteorological work and responsive approaches to climate change, saying that technology and natural disaster forecasting facilities should be modernized and international cooperation in responding to climate change should be enhanced.
In addition, he asked for a capacity enhancement in State management agencies related to sea and islands and better communication and education about the importance of a unified management system over sea and islands in the country’s socio-economic development cause.
PM Dung praised the MONRE’s contributions to national socio-economic development and expressed his hope that the ministry will overcome difficulties and challenges to fulfill targets set for 2014 and for the 2011-2015 period.
