Enterprises are essential for Hanoi's development: Mayor
Hanoi is on track to reduce its poverty rate below 1% by the end of 2018, which is partly thanks to the business community.
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung highly appreciated the contribution of the business community in the development of Hanoi in recent years.
Enterprises and business have been actively participating in many major events in Hanoi, including the construction and reparation of over 8,000 houses for needy people in 2017, Chung said in a meeting on October 12.
Chung informed that by October 17, Hanoi will finish building 4,076 houses for the poor, for which Hanoi would become the first city in Vietnam to complete the task of building and repairing houses for the poor.
The achievement was partly thanks to the business community, laying the foundation for Hanoi to reduce poverty rate below 1% by the end of 2018, Chung added.
"The business community has been responsible and contributing significantly to Hanoi's socio-economic development," Chung stressed.
Chung stated that Hanoi would take its citizens and enterprises as priority and continue to support the business community for development.
Nguyen Hong Son, chairman of Hanoi Business Association (HBA), said Hanoi has been improving the business environment and creating favorable conditions for enterprises development.
In the coming time, HBA will maintain its role as the bridge between the local authority and members. Additionally, the association will facilitate cooperation between members to enhance competitiveness and integrate extensively in global economy.
