Da Nang Summer Destination programme 2018 to be held in June
Da Nang Summer Destination programme 2018 will be held from June 16 to 20.
This was announced by Da Nang Department of Tourism. The programme will introduce a series of 23 exciting events and promises to give visitors a new, interesting experience in Da Nang city this Summer. The programme will be held for the annual Summer travel stimulus and aimed at attracting tourists to Da Nang.
The opening ceremony for the 2018 Da Nang Summer Destination will be held at Bien Dong (East Sea) Park on June 16, featuring a series of attractive art performances in parallel with music programmes, street festivals and cuisine events.
In addition, the yoga festival will also be held on Da Nang’s beaches, offering tourists the chance to practise yoga with professional instructors. Cinema shows at sea will feature a series of free films on the theme of Vietnam and its tourism, including the Kong: Skull Island, a critical and commercial success which was filmed at various locations around Vietnam.
Both visitors and Da Nang locals will have the chance to enjoy activities throughout the programme, such as decorating and arranging coracles, joining coracle racing and singing.
A new feature for this year’s event is “awakening” the tourism potential of the beach along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street with many meaningful activities, such as a festival exchanging garbage for notebooks, Bai Choi folk singing, and cultural exchange programmes.
This is the first time Da Nang Department of Tourism has coordinated with local businesses and tour operators to promote the coastal city’s tourism products, according to Ngo Quang Vinh, Head of Da Nang Tourism Department.
The 2018 summer holiday festival with its many innovations will contribute to the creation of recreational activities serving tourists and promoting marine tourism products in Da Nang, helping turn it into a city of events and festivals, he added.
Da Nang city received more than 3.2 million visitors, including around 1.3 million foreigners and over 1.8 million domestic tourists, during the first five months of 2018, a year-on-year rise of 30.4%, according to Da Nang Department of Tourism.
In 2017, Da Nang city welcomed 6.6 million visitors, up 19% against the previous year and 4.8% higher than last year’s target. The city earned VND19.4 trillion (US$853 million) in revenue from tourism last year, surpassing the year’s estimates set by the city by 4.9%.
