The central city of Da Nang will focus on implementing socio-economic targets next year, striving to increase the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) rate by 9 to 10 percent against 2017.
The city also targets the production value of the service sector and the industry-construction sector to rise by 8.8-9.8 percent and 8-9 percent, respectively.
The export turnover is also planned to surge 12-13 percent next year and total budget revenue will increase at least 5 percent. The employment rate will increase 4.04 percent while the proportion of the poor will reduce to 1.25 percent.

Da Nang targets the production value of the service sector to rise by 8.8-9.8 percent in 2018.
According to Ho Ky Minh, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, the city will continuously implement policies and measures to develop economy, tourism, infrastructure as well as to attract investment and innovation.
“Da Nang has planned to promote economic restructuring through developing key economic sectors such as high-quality service, high-tech industry and agriculture as well as information technology,” emphasized Minh.
Of these economic sectors, tourism will be considered a key driver for the local economy, Minh said.
The central coastal city of Da Nang saw a significant growth in international tourist arrivals in 2017, according to the city’s Department of Tourism.
In 2017, about 6.6 million visitors came to Da Nang, up 19 percent over the previous year and 4.8 percent higher than its yearly target. The figure included 4.3 million domestic tourists, up 11.3 percent year-on-year.
In the coming time, besides the improvement and embellishment of city’s infrastructure, road and accommodation facilities, the tourism sector of Da Nang will also build various tours as well as has provided visitors with new tourism products.
Da Nang has decided to choose the theme titled ‘The year for promoting investment attraction’ for 2018 to capitalize on the success of the APEC Summit Week to boost the central city’s socio-economic growth.
According to Dang Viet Dung, head of the Standing Committee of Da Nang City Communist Party, Da Nang determined that it would take the city difficult to improve the size of the economy and become the leading of the central and Highlands regions if it does not promote investment attraction to enhance the growth.
With the theme, the city will study more measures to better attract investment, he said.
Da Nang last month also hosted the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week successfully, which has been considered a golden opportunity for the city to promote its images and opportunities in investments, commercial and tourism and to have more international cooperation - a motive force for Da Nang to develop in the future.
To make good use of the opportunity, in the middle of October 2017, before the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, the municipal People’s Committee held the Da Nang Investment Forum 2017 with the participation of over 1,000 delegates from ministries, sectors, local authorities and international trade and commercial promotion organizations, and both local and foreign investors.
In the forum, the city’s leaders confirmed Da Nang wished to introduce to local and foreign business communities investment opportunities and particular investment policies.
It called for investments in 68 projects of all sizes. Remarkably, 3 infrastructure development projects includes Lien Chieu ports with total investment capital of VND7.3 trillion, the project of relocating the train station with planned capital of VND15.4 trillion and the project of Hoa Nhon- Hoa Ninh Industrial Park.
