Communist Party has a new Executive Secretary

The Politburo has announced the designation of Tran Quoc Vuong as the Executive Secretary of the Central Committee Secretariat, reported Vietnam News Agency.
The designation of  Vuong, who previously held the position of Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission, was  announced following the Politburo meeting on March 2.

Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and Vice Chairman of the Theoretical Council, was named as the Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council for the period 2016 - 2021.
Dinh The Huynh, the current Politburo member, Executive Secretary of the Central Committee Secretariat and the Chairman of the Theoretical Council of the Communist Party in period 2016 - 2021, will no longer hold these positions to focus on long-term illness treatment.
Vuong was assigned by the Politburo to act as Executive Secretary since August 1, 2017, while Huynh is on medical leave.
Vuong was born on February 5, 1953 in An Ninh commune, Tien Hai District, Thai Binh Province. He was Viet Nam's top public prosecutor until 2011, when he was named as Chief of the Office of the Party Central Committee. He chaired the Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee in January 2016.
Vuong was elected to the Party Central Committee in January 2016, to the Politburo at the first plenary session of the Party Central Committee and began his work as a new permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat from August 1, 2017.
The Executive Secretary of the Central Committee Secretariat is one of Vietnam's five key positions, along with General Secretary, President, Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Assembly.
