Boisterous Japanese Culture Festival in Da Nang
Da Nang has been the favourite site for the annual Vietnam - Japan Culture Exchange since 2012.
The program "Japanese Cultural Festival" held at Da Nang museum on March 10 introduced the beauty of culture, the country and people of Japan to local people and visitors, especially the students.
A large number of participants had a chance to try on traditional Japanese costumes and enjoy shows, as well as answering to quizzes on the two cultures. They also showed special interest in Japanese typical food, tea ceremony, calligraphy, paper folding, and folk games.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of Da Nang Museum Huynh Dinh Phuoc Thien said that through this festival, Vietnamese people have a chance to enjoy many kinds of Japan’s traditional culture activities.
In Vietnam, Japan is often referred to as “the land of cherry blossom” or “the land of rising Sun”. Many of its cultural pieces such as kimono dress, ikebana flower arrangement, cherry blossom, samurai fighters, manga books, sushi and sashimi are very popular among Vietnamese, young and old alike.
Da Nang has been the favourite site for the annual Vietnam - Japan Culture Exchange since 2012. More than 127 Japanese businesses are operating in the city, while 37 Japanese restaurants have opened in this resort city. Japan plans to open a consulate in Da Nang as a way to boost tourism and exchanges between Japan and the city in the future.
More than 300,000 Japanese tourists, the second largest foreign group, visited Da Nang in 2018, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
