Belgium supports Hanoi for heritage conservation and health improvement

Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung received Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Jehanne Roccas on December 20.
At the meeting, Ambassador Jehanne Roccas affirmed that the Belgian enterprises have actively cooperated with Hanoi authorities in the past years in various fields, including the health and infrastructure, especially the typical project of preservation of Thang Long Citadel relic.

According to the diplomat, two consulting firms of Belgium and France which jointly won the second prize in the recent degign competition for Thanh Long Imperial Citadel maintenance will co-ordinate to degign the project.
Ambassador Roccas expected to receive directions and guidances from Hanoi authorities to resolve the difficulties in implementing this project.
She also suggested to ​​establish the first European University in Vietnam that will become one of the largest schools in the ASEAN region.
During the reception, Chairman Chung stressed that the city considers the renovation of the Thanh Long Imperial Citadel as a top priority in the coming time.
The Chairman asked Belgian and French businesses to carry out  the overall study in order to ensure the relic's effective maintenance.
"The overall study will shorten a lot of related administrative procedures and ensure the project being synchronized, economic, efficient and qualified. For the fiscal years from 2016 to 2020, Hanoi city has allocated the budget to implement the project," Chairman Chung said.
Talking about the proposal of building the European University, the Chairman expressed his support and pledged to create the best conditions for the project.
During the meeting, a representative from Belgium's VK company confirmed their willingness to cooperate extensively with Hanoi in medical sector.
Participating in the design of some hospitals in Hanoi, VK company expected to continue to coordinate and join the city's upcoming projects.
In the regard, the Chairman said that Hanoi is implementing programs to build new rehabilitation hospitals meeting the Europe standards.
It makes favourable chances for foreign firms to participate in consulting, designing  and constructing these project, he noted.
The city has approved plans to upgrade infrastructure and health services following the European standards with a budget equivalent to 13% of Hanoi's GDP for 2016-2020 period," according to the Chairman.
He also said that Hanoi will promote the socialization of public investment projects in the locality in the future.
The Hanoi's investment environment has been improved significantly, and the city is ready to welcome more large private investors doing business in Hanoi, Chung stressed.
Hailing the VK's contributions in the design and construction of Hanoi High Tech and Digestive Centre, the Hanoi leader also expected the company will implement successfully and efficiently the renovated of Saint Paul General Hospital.
