The digital age gives people an easier and more comfortable life, while simultaneously increasing their ability to track and predict changes coming to cities, buildings, people, and the world at large.
A digital society can address the issues currently plaguing nations, such as transportation, sustainable energy and socio-economic development.
With the theme of Asia Smart City, HITACHI and its partners continue to hold the forum in Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. With a mission to build a better world, the conference series focuses on sharing know-how on solving social problems and sharing experiences of practical implementation.
Asia Digital Society Forum 2018 has been recently held in Vietnam to contribute to the development of digital society in developing countries, sharing know-how on technical management and finding partners in the future.
The Forum also aims to provide a platform for sharing experiences in implementing solutions for social issues and building a "smart city" to contribute to joint development efforts, as well as supporting enterprises to achieve the market’s potential by promoting business opportunities and cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises.
“Like other Southeast Asian countries experiencing rapid urbanization, Vietnam faces issues like traffic jams, poor infrastructure, and lack of energy,” said Yasuhiro Kawai from Japan's Nikkei Group.
“Thus, the forum is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to update themselves on practical solutions that can be applied to solve specific urban problems,” he added.
Experts believe that digital technology application and its comprehensive impact on all aspects of life—from agriculture through construction to finance and health—will contribute to improving Vietnamese people’s living quality and help the country realize its vision of smart cities.
"We hope this forum will encourage a constructive dialogue between businesses and policymakers about the challenges and solutions that we are all pursuing to realize the vision of smart cities in Vietnam," said Sudo Kazunori, CEO of HitachiAsia Vietnam Co., Ltd.
