Another flyover in Hanoi opens to traffic
An Duong – Thanh Nien flyover is one of eight major traffic projects meant to ease congestion in Hanoi’s districts of Ba Dinh and Tay Ho.
The Hanoi People's Committee on October 11 held a ceremony to open flyover at the An Duong – Thanh Nien intersection.
The opening ceremony saw the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, who is also Chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai, and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.
Making remarks at the event, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung stressed that the overpass will be significant to curbing traffic congestion in Ba Dinh and Tay Ho districts and facilitate travel between Ba Dinh, the country’s political center, and Noi Bai International Airport.
Besides, the flyover helps achieve the strong reinforcement of dykes to ensure the safety of flood prevention and create urban landscape in the region, contributing to perfecting the infrastructure system in the city, Chung added.
He entrusted the People's Committee of Ba Dinh and Tay Ho districts to regularly organize campaigns to mobilize people to abide by the law on ensuring traffic order and safety.
Moreover, it is necessary to strengthen the management of urban order at the intersection and make street improvements to ensure the city’s beauty, Chung said.
After this project, Hanoi will consider implementing another project connecting Thang Loi hotel with the Nhat Tan bridge, Chung noted.
He revealed that the city’s authority will ask the government for a special mechanism to speed up the project.
The construction of An Duong – Thanh Nien flyover was completed after ten months, coinciding with the celebration of the capital’s 64th liberation day (October 10, 1954 – 2018). It was built with total investment of nearly VND311,98 billion (US$13.42 million). The flyover is 271 meters in length and 10 meters in width. The project includes modifications to the structure of a section of the Huu Hong dyke (from Thang Loi hotel to An Duong border).
