Agro-forestry and seafood exports rise 5.5% in two first months of 2016

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, agro-forestry and seafood exports in February 2016 was estimated at 1.88 billion USD, bringing the total export value in the first two months of this year to 4.2 billion USD, up 5.5% against the same period last year.
Of the figure, agricultural exports are estimated at 1.9 billion USD, up 4.2% from the same period in 2015, seafood exports are 938 million USD (up 11.9%) and forestry exports are 1.1 billion USD (up 8.2%).

Among commodities, rice exports have reached an impressive growth. Rice export volume in February 2016 was estimated at 523,000 tonnes with a value of 228 million USD, bringing the rice export volume in the first two months of 2016 is estimated at 1.01 million tonnes and 445 million USD, up nearly 2.1 times in volume and a 2-fold increase in value over the same period in 2015.
