VN leads in cashew nut export

Viet Nam is to overtake India to become the biggest exporter of cashew nuts in the world in 2013, maintaining the position for eight consecutive years.
The country is estimated to export about 250,000 tonnes of cashew nuts, earning US$ 1.8 billion for the year.
 
 
According to the Vietnam Customs, the imported volume of material cashew nuts as by mid-December was 632,000 tonnes, worth nearly US$592 million, doubling the figure in the same period last year.
 
Most imported volume of material cashew nuts are used for producing products for export.
 
Under a draft Project on Vietnamese cashew sustainable development by 2010 declared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development recently, the cashew industry targets revenues of over US$ 2.5 billion by 2020.
