VinFast selects Siemens’ innovation platform for vehicle production
The Vietnamese carmaker is partnering with the world’s famous industrial conglomerate to realize its dream to turn into a leading auto firm in Southeast Asia
VinFast, Vietnam’s first car manufacturer, has selected a suite of tools from Siemens PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) Software to help realize its plans for next-generation automotive and transportation design, the German industrial conglomerate has said in a press release.
Under the agreement, Siemens is providing a digitalization solution across the entire automotive OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) value chain, which can enable VinFast to meet the company’s goals of creating the first Vietnam-made automobile and eScooter brand, and promote the development of the industrial and manufacturing sector in Vietnam.
VinFast plans to take advantage of a connected digital twin across both design and manufacturing. VinFast plans to use an integrated digital platform including the Teamcenter portfolio for digital lifecycle management, including the Teamcenter solution for product costing to support cost and value engineering, and the Tecnomatix portfolio for Discrete Manufacturing covering the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) layer.
VinFast recently announced plans to launch the first Vietnamese electric car. Using a connected PLM and MES digital enterprise solution can help the firm achieve this goal. By creating a digital enterprise, VinFast can take advantage of new and disruptive technology across each phase of their operation to reduce cycle time, increase yield and foster new business opportunities, according to the release.
VinFast and Siemens Vietnam in August signed two deals on supplying technologies and spare parts for electric bus manufacturing, paving the way for the production of eco-friendly public transportation vehicles in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese automaker earlier this month introduced its first concept vehicles at the Paris Motor Show, including a sedan and a SUV, with the participation of ex-football player David Beckham.
VinFast sets an ambitious target to produce 500,000 vehicles per year by 2025 and head to be a leading auto firm in Southeast Asia.
