Vietnamese Talent Award winners honoured

The best products and initiatives in the fields of information technology (IT), natural sciences, earth and life sciences, and environmental protection were presented with the 2014 Vietnamese Talent Awards in Hanoi.
The award ceremony saw the presence of Politburo member and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan and leaders of ministries and branches.
Addressing at the awards ceremony, Chairman Nhan appreciated that over the past ten years, the Vietnamese Talent Awards helped to realise dreams and projects in IT field and honoured achievements and contributions of scientist across the country.
Twenty-two IT products in the final round were selected from 240 entries from three main groups, including eight IT products that have already been successfully applied, nine products with great potential for application, and five applied IT products on mobile devices.
The organising board presented one first prize worth VND100 million, one second prize worth VND50 million and one third prize worth VND 30 million for each group.
A prize for projects serving the welfare of the people went to Vu Dinh Phuc from Lam Dong province with his invention of a grinder for finished agricultural products, that creates organic fertilizer.
The annual talent awards ceremony was first held in 2005 and was originally designed to encourage and acknowledge Vietnamese talent in the IT industry. The awards were later expanded to include natural sciences in 2009 and environmental protection in 2013.
