The Hanoi Times - The local social network yume.vn has signed up a large number of new members since Yahoo! Group Vice Chairman Ken Mandel announced the end of Yahoo!360.

Yahoo! 360 entered Vietnam early and quickly attracted a large number of users.

However, the “honeymoon” of Yahoo! 360 with Vietnamese users ended in 2008, when Yahoo! outran this service, with many errors. Vietnamese users have been “loyal” to this service, though Facebook, My Space have demonstrated advantages over Yahoo! 360.

Yahoo could not maintain an international product for a country so it announced the end of this service.

Blogger Gia Back, on his entry entitled “Last days with Yahoo! 360”, wrote: “Every party ends. And when I decided to leave Yahoo1 360, my patience with it was worn out completely”.

Gia Bach chose the Vietnamese social network Yume.vn as the site of his new home.

Yahoo! 360Plus was introduced to grab the Vietnamese market but it is a social network for teenagers, colourful and complicated, and proved unattractive to Vietnamese users.

The close of Yahoo! 360 is a grief for most Vietnamese bloggers, not because Yahoo! 360 is a perfect service, but because Vietnamese users have been familiar with it for years and they don’t want to change.

But they finally have to seek new houses, giving priority to those they can move their things into directly from Yahoo! 360.

Yume meets this requirement. It allows Yahoo! 360 bloggers to move everything directly from Yahoo! 360 to Yume, including old comments.

With Yahoo! 360 closing, it opens opportunities for other social networks in Vietnam, especially for Yume.vn.

But will Yume be able to satisfy the requirements of Vietnamese bloggers?
