There will be only one centre based at the Ministry of Public Security to issue national digital signatures. The Ministry of Finance and related agencies will set the fees for e-passports.
The e-passport will use chipset technology to prevent forged passports. Personal information will be saved in the chipset.
Vietnam’s goal is to issue 100 percent e-passports by 2015. By that time, all government agencies will supply digital signature certification services.
Around 45 countries in the world are now using e-passports.
