Vietnam to enhance IT application in all sectors
At the Vietnam ICT Summit 2017, which was organized on September 6 in Hanoi, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam asked to enhance information technology (IT) application in all sectors of Vietnam.

The Deputy PM required renewing science and technology, upholding the spirit of start-up and creativity, developing smart cities, agriculture and tourism, training more IT human resources and applying IT in management at organizations, businesses and State agencies.
Vietnam has made a remarkable improvement in the Global Innovation Index 2017, jumping from 59th last year to 47th worldwide this year. Vietnam has been ranked 89th out of 193 countries and territories in the e-government development index (EGDI) in 2016, up ten places compared to two years ago.
Regarding the guaranty of cyber security and safety, Mr. Dam asserted that it is a business opportunity and responsibility of each business, adding that it is necessary for the IT business community to take part in training IT human resources besides getting involved in renovation in policies, and efforts of the State and universities.

With the theme “Vietnam: Digital Transformation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, the ICT Summit 2017 attracted the participation of more than 650 delegates from ministries, agencies and representatives of 45 cities and provinces nationwide, ambassadors and commercial counselors from 14 nations and top IT businesses in Vietnam.
The survey of the ICT Summit 2017 Management Board on 275 agencies showed that 35.2% of them have been preparing and ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, 58.7% have learned about the Revolution but are not ready for it and 6.1% knew nothing about the Revolution.
Vietnam’s advantages in the Fourth Industrial Revolution include human resources (77.7%), awareness and determination of the Government (70.4%) and IT and telecommunications infrastructure (59.1%).
The key solutions are training human resources (81.8%), speeding up digital conversion (70%), and promoting start-up and creativity (53%). Vietnam has sectors with advantages, namely IT (89.9%), tourism (45.7%), agriculture (44.9%), finance and banking (47%) and logistics (28.3%).
