Head of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Copyright Office of Vietnam Bui Nguyen Hung said that the event, entitled "Finding copyrights management solutions in digital environment", provided a chance to review legal enforcement on copyrights and acquire South Korea’s experience in the field.

Hung noted Vietnam has a basic legal framework to protect intellectual property (IP) rights and a national strategy on the development of IP rights, adding that the country joined international agreements on IP protection and raised public awareness of IP rights.

However, how to effectively enforce these laws and to reverse the challenge of copyrights infringement is always a difficult issue, especially in the digital and internet environment, Hung noted.

Ms. Myoeng Su Hyeon, head of the Trade and Cultural Cooperation Department under the South Korea Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that Vietnam and her country have many cultural similarities, thus the two countries can exchange copyrights experiences.

With regard to advantages and challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, Lim Won Seon, chairman of the South Korea Copyrights Committee, emphasized that the two sides must work together to find a way to respond effectively to these challenges, especially the issue of copyright infringement.

The rapid development of science and technology forces people to face new challenges, forms of artificial intelligence are also making many countries to panic and they do not know how to handle it, Lim Won Seon said.

He added that to cope with the issue, South Korea established copyrights associations abroad to monitor and prevent revenues from unlicensed websites.

Besides, numerous ideas and solutions raised in Vietnam-South Korea copyrights forum 2018, which are meaningful to both countries’ copyrights industry.
