Vietnam – South Korea Film Festival kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City
From November 17 to 22, Vietnam – South Korea Film Festival is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City, with twelve outstanding films of the two countries screened free.

All eight of the Korean films being introduced at the festival have recently been screened in South Korea, including “Like for Likes”, “Phantom Detective”, and “Okja”.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese films being screened at the festival are “Co can nha nam nghe nang mua” (Like an old house), “Hotboy noi loan 2” (Lost in Paradise 2), “Sieu trom” (Bitcoin Heist), and “Co Ba Sai Gon” (The Tailor). During the festival, a workshop on film production via smartphones will be held.
The festival is part of the ongoing 2017 Ho Chi Minh City – Gyeongju World Cultural Festival. Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh City – Gyeongju World Cultural Festival held from November 11 to December 3 to celebrate the 25th founding anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries (December 22).
The festival, themed “the prosperity of the Asian community through cultural exchanges”, was organised by Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the RoK’s Gyeongsangbuk province. The main activities of the festival took place at different places including Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, the September 23 Park, Ben Thanh theatre and Phu Tho gymnasium.
On this occasion, the City’s people and visitors have a chance to enjoy and join numerous cultural and arts activities as well as exchange programmes such as the Vietnam – South Korea electronic music festival, film festival, sporting events, fine arts exhibition, Vietnamese literature forum, folk games and fashion shows.
On the same day, the Vietnam – South Korea Fine Arts Exchange Exhibition officially opened at the Ho Chi Minh City fine arts museum, as part of the festival. On display are 130 arts works, including 100 by South Korea artists and 30 Vietnamese painters. The exhibition, in different kinds including wood sculpture, lacquer, oil and silk paintings, feature images of the two countries and their people.
