The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has chosen 184 officials which are called “personnel for strategic levels”.
The number has been selected from thousands of officials who meet requirements of political standards for key officials, according to Nguyen Thanh Binh, deputy head of the Party Central Committee (CC)’s Organization Commission.

Officials for strategic levels are those who are leaders of the Party and State’s agencies, heads of ministries and organizations, and of localities. They are eligible to make important national decisions and solve strategic problems.
The number of such high-ranking officials is about 600, working under the management of the Politburo and the CC Secretariat.
Binh also said that more than 200 cadres have been proposed for the CPV’s Central Committee in the next five-year tenure, which will fall in 2021-2026.
The personnel issue has been a highlight of the CPV’s key tasks. General Secretary of the CPV and State President Nguyen Phu Trong has said that selecting qualified personnel for the Party’s positions is one of the priorities ahead of the 13th National Party Congress, slated to take place in 2021.
Preparing personnel for the Secretariat and the Politburo in the 2021-2026 term has been set the CPV’s key task for 2019 since the beginning of this year.
