Vietnam, Russia agree to boost cooperation
Chi Le 16:30, 2017/11/11
Vietnamese and Russian presidents agreed here on Friday that the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation in national defense, science, education, culture, tourism, and labor.
During their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week in Vietnam's central Da Nang city, Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and Russian President Vladimir Putin also agreed on releasing a joint statement on cooperation in ensuring international information security, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Quang suggested Russia to encourage more Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Russia's Far East region to benefit both countries.
He called on Russia to expand information-sharing with Vietnam, support Vietnam in education and training in fields such as cyber security, hi-tech crime prevention and control, and increase shipment of Vietnamese aquatic products to the Russian market.
For his part, Putin spoke highly of the active efforts Vietnam has made in hosting the APEC meetings, affirming that Vietnam is always one of the diplomatic priorities of Russia in the Asia-Pacific region.
He suggested Vietnam to create favorable conditions for Russian firms to join cooperation projects with their Vietnamese counterparts in infrastructure, railway, energy, fuel, automobile, and the use of nuclear power for peaceful purposes.
