Vietnam has surpassed Malaysia and India to become the world’s third largest exporter of natural rubber.

According to the latest statistics by the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC), Vietnam’s rubber output was estimated at 1.043 million tonnes in 2013, up 20.8% from the previous year, climbing two notches to third place among the world’s largest exporters of natural rubber.

China also went up two positions to rank fourth with 856,000 tonnes, 7.7% higher than the year before.

Malaysia slipped back from third to sixth place with 820,000 tonnes, an annual decrease of 11.1%. India ranked fifth with 849.000 tonnes.

The ANRPC reported that among the world’s top nine rubber exporters, India, Malaysia and Sri Lanka experienced a reduction in output, while Vietnam and China enjoyed a sharp increase.
