Le Khanh Hai, 55, experienced various posts in the culture-sports sector before he was appointed to be head of the Presidential Office on March 30.

In 2010, he was Deputy Minister of Cultural, Sports and Tourism. In 2016, he was reappointed to this charge.

In December 2018, he became President of the Vietnam Football Federation for the 2018-22 term.

Born in the central province of Quang Tri, Hai finished his study at the Institute of Military Technology before working at the Military Region 7 of the Vietnam People’s Army in Ho Chi Minh City.

Under the State President’s Decision dated in April 2018, the President’s Office is the assisting body of the President and Vice President, doing research, advice, and organizating President’s and Vice President’s activities in accordance with the Constitution and law.

Among dozens of its obligations, the office has to cooperate with central bodies and local authorities for internal affairs and organizing domestic work trips by the President and Vice President.

It needs to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to counsel the President and Vice President in foreign affairs and overseas visits.

Given position as head of the armed forces, the office functions as a consultative body for the President in this field.

In addition, the office is responsible for collecting and handling citizen’s petitions sent to the President, Vice President, and the office itself.
