Vietnam President vows to support ASEAN Community Vision 2025

Vietnam’s President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said he will, at the new position, support the friendship among ASEAN member states to chart the ASEAN Community Vision 2025.

The ASEAN vision of an integrated, peaceful and stable community with shared prosperity built upon the aspirations of the regional people will contribute to the sustainable development of the Southeast Asia, Phuc said at a meeting with ambassadors and charges d’affaires of 10 ASEAN member countries in Hanoi on April 13.

He affirms that engaging in the cooperation in ASEAN has always been one of priorities in Vietnam’s foreign affairs and friendly and cooperative relations with ASEAN member states have become an essential foundation in Vietnam’s foreign policy.

The president said the cohesive and responsive spirit has worked in the face of Covid-19 and he expected that the ambassadors and charges d’affaires will promote the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and ASEAN members for the stronger bloc.

On behalf of ambassadors and charges d’affaires, Pengiran Haji Sahari bin Pengiran Haji Salleh, Ambassador of Brunei to Vietnam, believed that the Vietnamese president will help deepen the relations between Vietnam and ASEAN and within the member states.

He highlighted Vietnam’s successful Covid-19 story in the ASEAN Chair 2020 has been important to the community building and connection among the regional countries, tightening the relations between Vietnam and ASEAN member states.

On the occasions of traditional festivals in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand and Ramadan in other ASEAN countries, Phuc sent them best wishes.

ASEAN Community Vision 2025, which was imitated at the 27th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2015, was built upon and deepened the integration process to realize a rules-based, people-oriented, people-centered ASEAN Community.

The vision covers several fields, including ASEAN Political-Security Community in which they shall be a united, inclusive and resilient community, ASEAN Economic Community expected to be highly integrated and cohesive; competitive, innovative and dynamic; with enhanced connectivity and sectoral cooperation; and a more resilient, inclusive, and people-oriented, people-centered community, integrated with the global economy, and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community to be inclusive, sustainable, reliable, and dynamic to engage and benefit the people.
