The agreement was reached during the meeting between Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh and Polish Secretary of State at the Chancellery of the President of Poland Krzysztof Szczerski in Hanoi.

Both sides vowed to cooperate closely to prepare well for the Polish President’s visit to Viet Nam, scheduled in 2017 and enhance coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums, especially the United Nations, UNESCO, ASEM, and ASEAN-EU frameworks.

Vietnam attaches importance to developing the friendship and traditional cooperation with Poland, asserted Deputy PM, FM Minh. He suggested that the two countries should soon establish an intergovernmental committee for economic cooperation and sign a framework on financial cooperation.

The Polish presidential minister affirmed that his country highly values Vietnam’s role and position in Southeast Asia and expects to further strengthen multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam. He said Poland will accelerate the official signing of the Vietnam-EU free trade agreement which is expected to foster the bilateral ties.

Poland is the biggest trade partner of Vietnam in East-Central Europe. The two-way trade volume reached US$655 million in the first ten months this year, an increase of 5% against the same period last year. The European country has 12 projects in Vietnam with total registered capital of US$138.8 million.

During the meeting, both sides also discussed on regional and international issues of common concerns. Mr. Krzysztof voiced support for Vietnam’s position of settling disputes in the East Sea through peaceful measures on the basis of international law, particularly the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.

Earlier, Mr. Krzysztof held talks with Chairman of the Presidential Office Dao Viet Trung and visited a number of economic, cultural places in Hanoi
