Vietnam shows active cooperation in counter-terrorism

Vietnam, as a participant in 13 out of 19 UN counter-terrorism treaties, is actively involved in international agreements on human rights and ethnic minority rights. At a Moscow event on September 25, this country proposed five solutions to global counter-terrorism, including upholding international law, enhancing cooperation between nations, improving immigration management, addressing extremism, and strengthening defense capabilities.

Vietnam enhances cooperation to combat drug threats 

Vietnam prioritizes early drug prevention through international cooperation, particularly at the source. At the 38th International Drug Enforcement Conference (IDEC) in Athens, Vietnam emphasized collaboration via bilateral and multilateral mechanisms and proactive measures in education, rehabilitation, and law enforcement to combat drug threats. It supports a no-tolerance stance on drugs, advocating for a drug-free region through legal and socio-economic strategies. 

 

PM holds dialogue with businesspeople

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh cleared up many queries regarding mechanisms and policies at a dialogue with leaders of major groups held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 25.

He highlighted that after Typhoon Yagi, the government has taken recovery efforts and expects this year's GDP to reach 7%. In the first half of 2024, Vietnam's GDP expanded by 6.42%. GDP in 2023 reached about US$433 billion, ranking 34th in the world and among the 20 largest economies in terms of international trade.

Vietnam, China enhance cooperation in media education

On September 25, some Vietnamese and Chinese universities and academies held a forum in Beijing to discuss media and journalism trends. The event aimed to strengthen cooperation in human resource training, scientific research, and foster exchanges between lecturers and students from both countries.

Ho Chi Minh City, Leipzig share experience in sustainable urban planning

Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong on September 25 called on Leipzig city of Germany to share its experience with the southern metropolis in sustainable urban planning and transferring environmentally friendly green technologies.

The Leipzig authorities supported HCMC in training personnel, sent experts to share experiences with hospitals, and set up a rehabilitation laboratory at the Institute of Biomedical Physics.

Ha Long Bay works hard on post-typhoon waste collection

The Ha Long Bay Management Board launched a campaign to collect waste in the bay following the impact of Typhoon Yagi and floods.

From September 14 to 23, over 1,120 personnel and 300 vehicles were mobilized for the work, collecting 643 cubic meters of waste and 94 floating fish farming rafts.

Ho Chi Minh City, Portuguese City advance tourism cooperation

Ho Chi Minh City and Porto, Portugal on September 25 discussed cooperation in tourism. The Vietnamese city sought support from Porto - a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1996 in technology transfer in heritage preservation and promoting local products. Meanwhile, Porto expressed its interest in strengthening economic ties with Vietnam, viewing it as a key gateway to Southeast Asia.

Nguyen Hue Flower Street opens for Tet celebration in 2025 

Nguyen Hue Flower Street, which is known as Ho Chi Minh City’s walking street, will open to visitors from January 27 to February 2, 2025 to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This annual event will feature cultural displays, food stalls, and entertainment along Nguyen Hue Street. It aims to attract tourists and showcase Vietnam's Tet traditions and the city’s vibrant culture.
