Hanoi police shut down a major piracy site streaming 50,000 films

 

Fmovies, an unauthorized website that streamed around 50,000 pirated movies with over 6.7 billion views in the first half of 2024, has been shut down by Hanoi police. Together with US officials, police charged 34-year-old Phan Thanh Cong and Nguyen Tuan Anh with violating copyright laws. The website, which had been operating since 2016, illegally earned hundreds of thousands of US dollars. This is the fifth such case to be resolved.

Thai investor to break ground on US$120m factory in Thai Binh

Thai investor Yuan Long International Limited has received approval for a US$120 million ceiling fan factory project in Thai Binh's Lien Ha Thai Industrial Park. Construction of the first phase, covering 15.6 hectares, will begin in Q4 2025 and be completed in Q4 2028. The project is expected to generate annual revenues of US$125.98 million and create around 4,500 jobs.

Ninh Binh golf tournament promotes heritage and tourism

The Ninh Binh Heritage Golf Tournament 2024 will be held from November 24 to 30 to celebrate Vietnam Heritage Day (November 23) and promote Ninh Binh's cultural heritage. The event is expected to attract 144 golfers nationwide and will feature heritage tours. The tournament aims to promote Ninh Binh as a destination for cultural and sports tourism. It is part of the Third Ninh Binh Festival under the theme "The Flow of Heritage".

Vietnamese artist’s work featured in Moscow cultural exchange

Vietnamese artist Pham Thuy Quynh's paintings, known for their grace, philosophical reflections, and nature-inspired beauty, were featured at the 5th Diplomatic Art Exhibition in Moscow on November 8. Hosted by the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts, the international event showcased art from 10 embassies and celebrated cultural ties and sustainable development through diplomatic art exchanges.

Positive performance of Vietnamese seafood exports

 

Vietnam's seafood exports surged 28% year-on-year to US$1.1 billion in October. This is the first time the figure has hit the $1 billion mark since June 2022. After 10 months, total fishery exports are estimated at $8.3 billion, up 12% year-on-year. The US, China and Japan were the top three export markets, accounting for 15-19% of the total, while seafood exports to Russia saw the highest growth at 94.8%.

Vietnam advances to futsal final after thrilling win over Australia

Vietnam booked their place in the final of the ASEAN Futsal Championship with a thrilling 5-4 win over Australia in the semi-finals on November 8. The Vietnamese team will take on Indonesia in today's final for the championship title.

Soc Trang street food festival celebrates local cuisine and culture

The "Taste of Soc Trang" street food festival is now underway at the Freshwater Lake Cultural Area in the southern province of Soc Trang's city. Now in its sixth year, the event features 34 stalls celebrating local cuisine and aims to preserve and promote local culinary culture. The food festival, which runs until November 15, includes a series of activities such as workshops and folk performances, demonstrations of unique local dishes, and cultural activities from 8am to 10pm.
