Ho Chi Minh City aims to become ASEAN healthcare hub by 2030

Ho Chi Minh City's healthcare development plan, which aims to establish the city as a regional healthcare hub in ASEAN by 2030, was recently approved. The plan ensures annual health check-ups and electronic health records for all citizens, with targets of 23 doctors, 40 nurses, and 42 hospital beds per 10,000 residents. Key priorities include improving infrastructure, training medical professionals, advancing healthcare technology, and boosting medical tourism linked to specialized healthcare services.

Vietnam Airlines and Chinese company sign MoU to boost tourism

A Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam Airlines and GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology was signed on November 8 in Chongqing, China, with a commitment to send nearly 300,000 Chinese tourists to Vietnam from 2024 to 2030. Accordingly, both parties will focus on close cooperation in air services, marketing and promotional events. Currently, Vietnam Airlines operates five routes to China, carrying 483,000 passengers from January to September this year.

Vietnam, Australia hold fifth program on women in peacekeeping

A program to exchange experiences between Vietnam and Australia on women's participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations was held on November 8. Discussions included the role of women peacekeepers, solutions to improve their work environment, and strengthening male support in this area. This was the fifth such exchange between the two countries.

Young scientists win recognition for science and technology

The 2024 Golden Globe Science and Technology Award honored 10 outstanding young scientists under the age of 35 in five fields: Information Technology, Digital Transformation & Automation; Biomedical Engineering; Biotechnology; Environmental Engineering; and New Materials Engineering. Each winner received a Youth Creativity Badge, a Golden Globe Trophy, a certificate and a cash prize of VND20 million (US$800).

Vietnam's digital transformation gets regional recognition

Vietnam was honored with nine awards at the 2024 ASOCIO DX Awards, a prestigious annual IT award in the Asia-Oceania region. Recognized categories included Smart City, Digital Government, HealthTech, EdTech and Women in Tech. Presented at the ASOCIO Digital Summit in Japan, the awards, which celebrate Vietnam's advancements in digital transformation and technology innovation, underscore Vietnam's growing presence in regional digital innovation.

LNG power project to boost energy supply in northern Vietnam

The Thai Binh LNG power plant project will have a capacity of 1,500 MW and represent an investment of US$2 billion. Scheduled to begin construction in Q3 2025 and be operational by 2030, the project aims to enhance energy security in northern Vietnam. The provincial government has prioritized project support for land clearing and infrastructure development.
