Vietnam seeks comprehensive digital transformation

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on July 19, called on all people to join a comprehensive digital transformation so that Vietnam can catch up with other nations and be on par with them in the face of global headwinds.

Vietnam has been promoting economic growth, stabilizing the macro-economy, controlling inflation, ensuring key balances, and restructuring the economy, among others, all of which are relevant to digital transformation.

"Agent Orange - Conscience and Justice" exposes horrific consequences of war

Over 300 photos, documents and artifacts showing the consequences of Agent Orange have been displayed at the "Agent Orange - Conscience and Justice in Central Quang Tri Province" exhibition. Running from July 19 to August 20, the exhibition helps people throughout the country and international friends understand more about the impact of defoliants on the environment and human health in the affected areas, especially in Quang Tri, one of the eight provinces heavily contaminated with Agent Orange. It is also displayed on websites: trienlamdacam.vn, http://binhchunghoahoc.vn and http://vava.org.vn.

Vietnam emerges as fastest growing e-commerce market in SEA

Vietnam has emerged as one of the two fastest-growing e-commerce markets in Southeast Asia, according to a report recently released by OpenGov Asia, a content platform for sharing ICT-related knowledge and information.

The report highlights that Vietnam has overtaken the Philippines to become the third-largest e-commerce market in the region, and the country is intensifying its efforts to develop cross-border e-commerce as a key driver of economic growth.

Prospects for commercial cooperation between Canada and Vietnam

To further advance development cooperation projects marking 30 years of Canadian assistance to Vietnam, the Vietnamese Trade Office in Canada held a working session with the Minister of International Development, Ahmed Hussen.

Canada's development assistance projects will create numerous opportunities for technology and innovation companies working in the areas of energy transition, renewable energy and clean technology. They also create opportunities and potential for commercial cooperation between companies in both countries.

Vietnamese goods sold through modern distribution systems

Bringing goods into modern distribution systems is an effective way to help producers increase sales and expand market share, an event in Ho Chi Minh City heard on July 19.

The event aimed to introduce Vietnamese branded products to domestic and international consumers through Central Retail's supermarket chains.

Vietnam has a new cashew supplier

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam imported over 780,700 tons of cashews from Cambodia in H1/2024, valued at US$1 billion. This accounted for 52% of Vietnam's total cashew imports, which were nearly 1.5 million tons worth $1.8 billion, an increase of 8.4% in volume and 3.4% in value over the previous year. As a cashew exporter, Vietnam is now facing domestic supply shortages, leading to increased imports.

Three sites in Vietnam declared special national relics

In a decision signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, three sites have been designated as special national relics including: Xom Trai cavei and Mai Da Lang Vanh archaeological sites in Lac Son, Hoa Binh Province; Vinh Hung archaeological site in Vinh Loi, Bac Lieu Province; and Truong Dinh Uprising historical sites in Go Cong town, Go Cong Dong district, and Tan Phu Dong district, Tien Giang Province.

New direct flight between Hong Kong and Danang launched

Hong Kong Airlines launched a new direct route from Hong Kong to Danang on July 19, with 7 flights per week. Hong Kong Airlines' first flight, HX548, arrived at Danang International Airport on the same day, bringing 152 passengers from Hong Kong to experience Danang's tourism services. The new route brings the total number of weekly flights between Hong Kong and Danang to 21, enhancing international connectivity and supporting tourism recovery.
