Vietnam, India boost cooperation in industrial development

Vietnam and India see a lot of untapped potential for bilateral cooperation in the manufacturing sector, experts said at a trade connectivity conference in Ho Chi Minh City on July 18.

In particular, the two countries have advantages in mechanics, electricity, electronics, digital technology and energy.

Int’l fire prevention, rescue, security equipment exhibition to be held in Vietnam

As many as 450 brands from 17 countries and territories will join the international exhibition of techniques and means of fire prevention, fighting and rescue, and security and safety equipment, which is slated for August 14-16 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The exhibition will feature four main product groups, including fire protection, rescue and safety technologies and equipment for industrial parks, factories, high-end buildings, smart cities, commercial buildings and transportation.

Forum connects international scholars in training, research

The second ASEAN Consortium for Innovation and Research Forum (ACIR 2024) was held on July 18 in the central city of Danang to promote the quality of training, innovation and scientific research.

ACIR 2024 aimed to facilitate the sharing of knowledge, experience and new initiatives. 

US$6.9 million to restore ancient Dien Khanh Citadel

The ancient Dien Khanh Citadel in the central province of Khanh Hoa is set to undergo a facelift at a total cost of more than US$6.9 million.

The restoration aims to revitalize this historical landmark while preserving its cultural significance.

Ho Chi Minh City remittances up by a fifth to US$5.2 billion in H1

Remittances to Ho Chi Minh City rose 19.5% year-on-year to more than VND130 trillion (US$5.2 billion) in the first half of this year, according to the State Bank of Vietnam. In the second quarter, remittances rose 4.2% year-on-year to VND58 trillion (US$2.31 billion). Asia remained the largest source, accounting for 56% of the total.

Vietnam's leading power company to invest in Ninh Thuan

Ninh Thuan, on July 18, approved PV Power's Lam Son Clean Energy Storage Complex project, which cost an investment of VND94,000 billion (US$4 billion). The complex, scheduled to start in 2026 and be completed by 2030, is expected to produce 5.87 billion kWh annually.

Vietnam U19 set for victory in ASEAN Championship opener

The Vietnam U-19 team is determined to do well in the 2024 U-19 Southeast Asian Championship. Placed in Group B with Myanmar, Australia and Laos, U-19 Vietnam will face strong competition from the likes of Australia. Coach Hua Hien Vinh said on July 17 that the team is fully prepared and aiming for the best results, with all teams sharing the goal of winning. The team is also confident that they will finish at the top of Group B. The tournament will follow a round-robin format, with the top three teams advancing to the semi-finals.
