Russia is seeking measures to start the export of pork and eggs to Vietnam besides beef and poultry which have been shipped to the Southeast Asian country.

The Russian service is working with the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s National Agro-Forestry-Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) to get license for the export of cod, tilapia and shrimp to Vietnam, TASS reported.

Head of NAFIQAD Nguyen Nhu Tiep said at a meeting with Deputy Head of the Russian Veterinary Service, Konstantin Savenkov that Russian wheat and fertilizers are in high demand in Vietnam, and the country is also planned to increase imports of Russian animal feed, fish and meat products.

He said that Vietnam will facilitate Russian suppliers as the country is ready to begin the transition to electronic veterinary certification of products supply between the two countries.

In turn, Russia has planned to boost the import of fish products from Vietnam.

The move is part of efforts to raise the bilateral trade to US$10 billion by 2020 which the two countries’ top leaders have supported during the visit to Hanoi by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev earlier this week.
