Hanoi Times - Three Vietnamese companies will take part in the construction of a US$ 560 million AAG sea optical cable system connecting the Southeast Asian region and the US, which is expected to commence in October.
They include the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Group (VNPT), Viettel and Saigon Postal (SPT). Of which, VNPT will contribute the highest capital of US$ 40 million.
The 20,000km route will start in Malaysia and finish in the US. The 314km Vietnam section will land in Vung Tau and have an initial capacity of 240 Gbps.
The construction of this cable network will take 19 months. The system is scheduled to start operations in November 2008.
