Vietnam is ready for US-DPRK gathering: PM
The Hanoi mayor asserted the commitment to ensuring absolute security for the event, backed by the local police and army.
Vietnam is ready to host the second summit between US President Donald Trump and Chairman of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un in the coming days, as a token of Vietnam’s contribution to the world peace, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Xuan has affirmed.
Vietnam will guarantee absolute security for this crucial event, said the prime minister after checking the preparations for the second summit between the two leaders.
At the International Media Center, which can house some 3,000 reporters simultaneously, the government chief asked for thorough care to demonstrate the host country’s hospitality. This was the third time he checked this place over the last two days.
Prime Minister Phuc asked the local government and ministries to increase the embellishment with more flowers and banners in the heart of the city including Hoan Kiem lake and the Opera House, and step up the clean-up, in order to create a friendly and beautiful image of the capital city.
At a press meeting on Monday, Hanoi mayor Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed the city’s readiness to host a peace talk for the first time although the city has been the venue of many large international events.
Chung also asserted the commitment to ensuring absolute security for the event, backed by the local police and army.
The local government is making available four double-decker buses to take reporters to a city tour free of charge. There will be performances by famous artists around Hoan Kiem lake in the evenings of February 26-28 to welcome the event, he informed.
