Vice Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong would lead the task force, along with several senior officials at the ministry and three economists including Tran Dinh Cung - former Director of the Central Institute of Economic Management (CIEM), Nguyen Ba An – former Vice Director of the Development Strategy Institute, and Nguyen Thi Cuc – former deputy head of the General Department of Taxation.

Under the plan, the task force is responsible for holding dialogues with business associations, organizations, and the business community to timely identify shortcomings and concerns for timely intervention. Members of the task force would later report back to the MPI for solutions to address those issues and improve the national competitiveness that is in line with the Government’s resolution No.02.

According to Vice Minister Tran Duy Dong, during its operation, more experts would join the task force.

Resolution No.02 stipulates key objectives for Vietnam to improve the business environment in 2022, to raise the country’s status in the global ranking on the business environment and national competitiveness.

The move is expected to help Vietnam better adapt to the current development trend of Industry 4.0; enhance economic resilience against the Covid-19 pandemic; increase the number of newly-established enterprises; lower market entry costs and unofficial expenses of businesses and people.

By 2025, Vietnam targets to join the top 50 of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on 4.0 Competitiveness Index; top 40 of the Innovation Index of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO); top 60 of the E-Government Index of the UN; and top 50 of the Tourist Competitiveness Index of the WEF.
