Vietnam donates US$100,000 to support the US’s Kentucky tornado victims

Friendship, cooperation and mutual support between the two countries will help overcome difficulties.

The Vietnamese government and people on January 5 in Hanoi presented US$100,000 to the American Red Cross in support of those affected by deadly tornadoes in the US’s Kentucky in December.

Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Quoc Dung expressed his belief that the US government and people will soon overcome consequences of the natural disaster in Kentucky.

Dung highlighted friendship, cooperation and mutual support between the governments and people of Vietnam and the US to overcome difficulties, especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

For her part, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Vietnam Marie Damour thanked the Vietnamese government and people for their timely support, expressing her hope that the bilateral relationship, including cooperation between the two countries’ Red Cross organizations, will keep flourishing.

Earlier, on December 12, 2021, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent messages of condolences to US President Joe Biden over the losses of human lives and property caused by the natural disaster.
