Vietnam has improved legal framework, developed national strategies for national information security, striving step by step to make Vietnam a strong nation in terms of cyber security, Thanh added.
He stressed that, to achieve the goal, the strength of all forces in society is needed. The conference was an opportunity to discuss law, policy and especially new technologies to be applied to Vietnam.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung said that Vietnam has about 350,000 IoT (Internet of Things) devices, most of which are cameras and routers. More than 40% of those might have information security loopholes.
Hung emphasized that in the future, AI and IoT would be two concepts which go together along, as IoT generates huge amounts of data and AI helps analyze and process it.
Even though IoT promoted the digitization of many industries, it posed security threats to new technology applications. Tools used to attack IoT devices are becoming more sophisticated, Hung said.
Some of the terminal devices would become new targets, including refrigerators, robot vacuum cleaner, street lights or watches. It is possible to see the risks in the coming time, in which malicious code will become smarter and the perfect environment for them is the network of IoT devices, he added.
The deputy minister also noted that cyber security was a long-lasting war. This would be a great challenge that state agencies, organizations, businesses and the community in Vietnam must pay attention to in order to avoid unexpected consequences.
Hung said one of the ways to enhance information security in Vietnam was to create stronger trust among the society, adding that trust was the key to success in the field of cyber security.
Along with the conference is the exhibition area with 25 booths of corporations, leading enterprises at home and abroad to introduce, showcase the latest information security technology products.
Besides, there is a highly specialized area to show information security technology. This demonstration area is dedicated to professionals, researchers, engineers to introduce products, the latest tools for information security with the conference’s guests.
Within the framework of the 2018 Vietnam Information Security Day series of events, many other activities are being undertaken to raise public awareness of information security, promote high-level human resources training, including Student Competition with Information Security 2018, survey on the state of information safety in the whole country and publish the Information Security Index, The "High Quality Information Security Products", "Excellent Information Security Products" and "Information Security Services", free advanced training course on information safety.
