Vietnam is in the most beautiful season of the year with the northern and central regions experiencing temperate climates and the south undergoing scorching heat.
In an article compiled by travel writers on the news website www.telegraph.co.uk, Vietnam is a candidate for a winter escape when most of Europe recently experienced a harsh cold snap and the US just recovered from a record-breaking freeze.
Telegraph has suggested that those wishing to get a feel of sunny weather and sweltering sunshine should drop by Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, the country’s two biggest cities, with temperatures ranging from 34 to 36 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the World-Heritage site Ha Long Bay, known as a wonder of limestone scenery, has a lot to offer visitors.
The country was ranked seventh among the world’s 20 fastest-growing travel destinations, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Vietnam welcomed nearly 13 million international tourists in 2017, up 29.1% against 2016. Those from Asia grew 34.4% in total, with tourists from China rising 48.6%, South Korea 56.4%, Japan 7.6%, according to the Vietnam General Statistics Office.
The latest figures from the General Statistics Office show that an estimated 2.86 million international tourist arrived to Vietnam in the first two months of 2018, an increase of 29.7% compared to 2017.
Vietnam expects to welcome between 15 and 17 million international and 78 million domestic tourists this year, with total revenue expected to hit VND620 trillion (US$27.28 billion), up 21.35% annually, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
