Vietnam Airlines' 2017 consolidated revenue at $3.8 billion

The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on January 10 announced its estimated 2017 revenue at VND88,400 billion ($3.8 billion), some 23.5% increase year-on-year.

Consequently, the airliner’s pre-tax profit is reported at VND2,800 billion ($123 million), some 8.3% increase against 2016, the company which partly owned by Japan’s ANA Holdings, said in its statement released today.
But Vietnam Airlines has denied to elaborate its plan to launch non-stop route to the US as some previous reports said, adding that the company “is still considering” all possibilities. “Currently, we do not have any detailed plan for that. We will let you know when we have it,” a Vietnam Airlines’ spokesperson who wished to be anonymous, told The Hanoitimes.
Vietnam Airlines, Jestar Pacific and VASCO has operated 180,000 safe flights, both domestic and international, transporting 26,5 million passengers with the annual average growth of 6,7%. Shipway has an initial capacity 343.000 tons, some 19% increase against 2016. In which, the shares of domestic market accounts for 60%, international market at 32,3%.
These figures include Vietnam Airlines’ subsidiaries Jetstar Pacific – the budget airliner, and VASCO. Particularly, total revenue of the parent company, Vietnam Airlines Corporation alone, has been estimated at VND66,200 billion ($2.9 billion) with pre-tax profit of VND1,550 billion ($67 million), some 8% increase against 2016. Its State budget contribution has been reported nearly doubled, over VND1,900 billion ($83 million) in the year, Vietnam Airlines said.
Vietnam Airlines has floated some 1.2 billion shares, coded HVN, on UpCOM since January 2017 and the company is expected to upgrade its share on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) in the second quarter of 2018.
The airliner has put 4 Airbus A350-900 XWB and one Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner into operation in 2017, bringing its total A350 and B787 fleet at 21 by the end of 2017.
The firm achieved significantly in upgrading narrow-body aircraft. Specifically, contract of long term leasing six A321neo aircrafts and another US$1.5 billion deal of purchase and maintain A321neo's engine with Pratt&whitney were signed during Us President's state-level visit to Vietnam on the last November.
During the period of 1995 – 2017, Vietnam Airlines carried 200 million passengers with total revenue of VND777 trillion ($34 billion), average growth rate of 15.62% per year, pre-tax profit of VND18 trillion ($789 million). Until now, Vietnam Airlines has contributed more than VND41 trillion ($1,8 billion) to the state budget.
