The route will run 12.5 kilometers from Nhon in the western district of Nam Tu Liem, via Kim Ma Street to the Hanoi Railway Station in the downtown area. The metro line is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2021.

The first train for the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station line arrived in Dinh Vu port in Hai Phong city from France last October. It is among 10 trains being produced in France for the project.

The second train is expected to arrive in Vietnam in January 2021 and all 10 trains of the Nhon-Hanoi Railway rolling stock will be in Hanoi by June of the same year.

Each train will be composed of four or five wagons with a maximum capacity of 950 passengers. It is made of aluminum alloy in accordance with European standards, measuring 78.27 meters in length.

Its low floor makes it quite convenient for passengers to hop on and off, especially for those with luggage or having to move on wheelchairs. There are priority areas for people with disabilities.

The train is colored green, red pink and white with an emblem of the Khue Van Cac, the Constellation of Literature pavilion inside the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, Vietnam’s first national university.

The work was supposed to be finished in September 2017, but delays pushed back the deadline several times.

Hanoi's first metro, the Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway, which runs 13 kilometers from the center of Dong Da to Yen Nghia in the southwestern Ha Dong district, was in the final stage of safety assessment in September, but no deadline has been set to start commercial operations.
