The tourism sector has launched a number of exciting tours that evoke the pleasures of travellers aiming to further attract foreign tourists to Vietnam.
1. The Quang Tri UXO Tour
Foreign tourists will have a chance to witness a landmine deactivation mission in Cam Lo district of the central province of Quang Tri.
It was co-organised by the Norwegian-funded project Environment and Neutralizing the Effects of the War (RENEW) and the Vietnam Backpackers Hostels.
The explosives are inside a hole in the field, with a warning sign. From a distance of about 300 metres, foreign tourists can observe safety procedures and the guidance of the captain.
During the trip, tourists will also visit a showroom of the explosive consequence remedy centre and meet with mine victims. They will also be given debris to take home.
The tour will hopefully help young foreign visitors understand more about the aftermath of war.
2. Riding buffalo tour
Tourists visiting Hoi An ancient city and Bat Trang Pottery Village will have interesting experience when swaying in a buffalo wagon on the village road running between the rice fields, riding on the back of a buffalo or standing behind a buffalo for ploughing.
When visiting craft villages, tourists not only enjoy the peaceful scenery but also see production facilities and meet with skilfull and intelligent artisans. They can even make products themselves.
3. Being “farmers for a day” tour
“Being a farmer or a fisherman for one day” is a recent unique tour in Cu Chi suburban district of Ho Chi Minh City that has attracted the participation of 1,000 international visitors per month.
Wearing Vietnamese farmer clothes and conical hats, the tour gives tourists a chance to work on a farm including rice sowing and vegetable planting.
