The Vuong residence palace, a must visit destination in Ha Giang
The Vuong residence palace locates in Sa Phiren commune, Dong Van district (Ha Giang province) was built in the early 20th century.
This is a beautiful and unique architecture on the Dong Van Plateau and is a must visit destination for visitors to Ha Giang.
The art and architectural relic Vuong residence palace marked a turbulent period in the late nineteenth century early twentieth century of the rocky plateau. The man who built the mansion was considered the masterpiece of this architectural art, namely, Vuong Chinh Duc (1865-1947) - a man whose career has remarkable mark in the history of Dong Van. He is special, smart, good at martial arts, and popular about playing Khmer trumpet. When he was 30 years old, the H'mong in the Sa Phin – Pho Bang area voted him to become a leader.
In 1913, when the power and economic power of the Vuong dynasty reached its peak, Vuong Chinh Duc built the palace at a cost of 150,000 Phuong Dong silver coin.
The palace was built for eight years (from the end of 1919 to the beginning of 1928), the palace has an land area of 1.120m2, including 64 rooms with front, central and post halls with two horizontal house, two warehouses, an opium storage area, a place for weapons, possessions and two bunkers, all are protected by a thick solid stone wall. The palace has a place for work (politics), family life, rest, guard.
The palace was built according to the criteria of Vuong Chinh Duc. First of all, it must ensure the defensive function so that the surrounded walls were constructed from large stone slabs, and attached with cement. The second criterion is fine art. The mixture is reflected in the material (soil, stone, wood, iron, steel, roofing package), in the station, stone carving, wood on the pillars, columns, doors are engraved exquisitely that show the power and elegance of the imperial king. Third criterion is durable. The most durable materials like the eternal green stone, Samu wood, yin-yang gutter was selected for the mansion.
This palace is considered as an architecturally enclosed, solid and convenient complex that become both a palace and an impregnable fortress of the Vuong dynasty in the past.
The highlight of the mansion is the delicate blend of ancient Chinese architecture of Man Thanh dynasty and unique architecture of French, and Mongolian. The harmonious combination of materials from Yunnan (China) and local materials including green stone, precious wood and terra-cotta tiles, under talented hands and eyes of aesthetics of Yunnan and Dong Van Mongolian workers has produced a unique masterpiece of architecture.
In 1993, the Vuong residence palace was recognized National Monument as "Historical cultural relics of the Vuong dynasty". The art and architectural relic Vuong residence palace is a jewel in the middle of the arid stone plateau and is an attractive destination of Dong Van Highland Geological Park. The art and architectural relic Vuong residence palace is regarded as a destination not to be missed when visiting Dong Van stone plateau.
