Taxi collision kills one, injuries eight in Hanoi

A taxi collided with a train in Hanoi on the evening of November 12, killing one and injuring eight people.

A witness said that around 7:00 p.m, a seven-seat car operated by the Taxi 3A Company was travelling from Nguyen Van Cu Street to Thuong Thanh Street in Long Bien District and when it came to the intersection of Thuong Thanh Street and the railway, the driver tried to cross the railway while the train was nearing.

The train collided with the car, causing the car to crash into a nearby house.

According to the initial reports, passengers who were on the car were seriously injured and taken Viet Duc Hospital for emergency treatment. There was one fatality. All of the victims were relatives from the northern province of Bac Ninh.

The driver was not injured, but was taken to the police to make an official statement.
