“The incredible depths of the world’s largest cave lures in travellers who want a true adventure. But the arduous journey into this subterranean site makes booking a trek essential,” Lonely Planet wrote.
Lonely Planet warns travelers that less than 300 spaces remain for 2019 exploration, according to Oxalis Adventure Tours, the major tour operator that takes travellers inside.
The Inca Trail in Peru tops the list, followed by Burning Man in Nevada, the US, Son Doong Cave in Quang Binh province; Under restaurant in Norway, and 2019 Solar Eclipse in South America.
Earlier, RT - Russia TV network has hailed the imposing beauty of Son Doong cave. In a recent article, the TV quoted a group of travelers who explored the world’s largest cave as saying that it is “a sanctuary, a lost world below the surface - a unique ecosystem.”
The journey of the six-member team through the cave took four days of arduous climbs interspersed with spectacular sights, such as some of the world’s most imposing stalagmites, fast-running streams, and an underground forest. “It’s peaceful here, you feel completely detached and free. This is what you call a reset,” said one of the travelers, Ernest Rudyak, in a video diary of the journey.
The number of tourists to Son Doong Cave in the first eight months of 2018 was estimated at 873. Of the total, 290 people came from the US, followed by 154 people from Vietnam, 76 people from Australia, according to Oxalis.
