Vietnam ranks on top 15 the most Instagrammed cruise destinations around the world.
Taking a cruise is an extravagant experience that most people want to make their friends jealous about, and the trip to Vietnam is no exception, according to a survey by SeaHub.
Seahub.com, a cruise deal site, studied more than 1.8 million posts tagged from ships and ports around the world to find out what destinations, activities and time of year are most popular for social-media savvy cruisers. Vietnam ranks on top 15 the most Instagrammed cruise destinations around the world. In addition, Vietnam ranks on one of the fastest growing tourism markets in the world.
The latest figures from the General Statistics Office show that an estimated 12.9 million international visitors arrived in Vietnam during 2017, up 29.1% against 2016.
December saw Vietnam welcome 1.28 million international tourists, up 8.9% against November and 42.2% year-on-year. December saw the highest number of international visitors during the year.
Those from Asia grew 34.4% in total, with tourists from China rising 48.6%, South Korea 56.4%, Japan 7.6%, Taiwan 21.5%, Malaysia 17.9%, Thailand 13%, and Singapore 8%.
The number of European tourists reached 1.9 million, up 16.6%, with those from Russia rising 32.3%. Visitors from five Western European markets exempted from visas for 15 days increased significantly: the UK by 11.3%, France 6%, Germany 13.6%, the Netherlands 11.7%, Spain 20%, and Italy 13.2%.
In addition, Vietnam tourism sector will take drastic and synchronous measures in 2018 to reach the target of receiving 15 to 17 million international tourists, the Government said at a recent online meeting with cities and provinces nationwide. The sectors also aims to serve 78 million domestic visitors, earning total revenue of VND620 trillion (US$27.31 billion).
Accordingly, tourism promotion in both international and domestic markets will be strengthened next year. Besides, the tourism sector will also focus on turning Vietnam into a safe and friendly destination while creating clear changes in improving the quality of services and tourism.
