Rubber export eyes US$4.5 bln
09:15, 2013/10/11
Viet Nam is expected to pocket US$4.5 billion in shipping rubber abroad this year, according to the Viet Nam Rubber Association (VRA).
In January-September, VRA businesses exported around 710,000 tons of rubber latex and earned US$1.68 billion in revenue. The figures dropped 1.2% in volume but increased 17.8% in value in comparison with the same period last year.

Rubber is the eighth biggest hard currency earner of Viet Nam after garments and textiles, telephones, crude oil, electronic products, footwear, aquaculture and machines.

Last year, Viet Nam became the fifth largest rubber producer in the world by shipping about 836,600 tons.

The country also ranked fourth in exporting natural rubber in the world and occupied 10.6% of the global market share.

Viet Nam’s rubber output was placed at the third position after India and Thailand with approximately 1.7 tons of rubber latex per hectare.
