Resolution on Hanoi’s development reviewed
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai yesterday gave a number of directions during a conference held in Hanoi to review the five-year implementation of the 11th Politburo’s Resolution on orientations and tasks for the capital city’s 2011-2020 development.
Secretary of the Gia Lam district Party Committee Nguyen Huy Viet urged the municipal authorities to take caution when allowing the construction of high-rise buildings in the inner city because traffic congestion is growing during peak hours. He suggested transforming old apartment buildings into cultural houses, schools and parking areas.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the outlying Dan Phuong District Party Committee Nguyen Tat Thang raised concern that macro management of urban planning implementation is not effective, and related administrative procedures are cumbersome, which showed the Law on the Capital City has not been enforced effectively. Secretary of the outlying Thanh Tri District Party Committee Tran Van Khuong urged more drastic actions to treat wastewater discharged into rivers.
Concluding the event, Hai credited the resolution with promoting the city’s socio-economic development, national defence-security, social security and safety. At the same time, the business community still complain about the business environment in the city, he said, urging the entire political system to take synchronous actions to issue mechanisms and policies conducive to business development and investment.
On the occasion, the municipal authorities laid out seven key groups of tasks for the city between now and 2020. They submitted to the Politburo and central agencies proposals on a number of specific mechanisms and policies for Hanoi and resources support to complete major projects in the city.
