Quang Trung Software City to be multiplied in provinces
The HCMC government has plans to develop the Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) into a chain, located not only in the city but in other provinces as well, said HCMC Vice Chairman Le Manh Ha.

However, a second QTSC will be built soon in the city, and Quang Trung Software City Development Co. Ltd. is now drafting the project, which is to be ready for approval by the city government by June.

A source told the Daily that the second Quang Trung Park will be located at a more convenient area for enterprises, investors, experts, and laborers compared to the first one, which is in District 12.
Chu Tien Dung, Chairman of the Member Board of Quang Trung Software City Development Co. Ltd., said other localities in the country are having high demand to develop information technology centers and software parks, which is an opportunity for the company to develop this model into the chain.
“To build a center that can attract interest of investors and enterprises, a brand name is very necessary,” said Dung.
“The brand name of QTSC has been established for 13 years. It is now not only known in Vietnam but by IT and software experts in other countries and therefore is an advantage for other cities and provinces to develop it in their localities,” he said.
He added that in the cooperation to develop the QTSC chain outside the city, QTSC in HCMC will support other provinces by sharing experiences in developing and managing the software city as well as the human resources to run it.
Last year, total revenues of IT enterprises in the QTSC were estimated at VND2.86 trillion (US$154 million), up 35.5% over the previous year while export turnover was US$70.85 million, increasing by 39.7% over 2012.
The software city last year attracted 21 more IT enterprises, raising the number of tenants there to 108 firms.
