Son Nguyen 16:15, 2022/11/09
The relations between the two neighboring countries which are built by royal families would be the foundation for further ties in the next periods of time.

The long-lasting Vietnam-Cambodia relations are valuable for both countries thanks to the significant role of royal families.

The idea was shared at the meeting between Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni during the Vietnamese PM's ongoing visit to Cambodia for the official visit and ASEAN Summits.

King Sihamoni expressed his appreciation for the affection to late King Norodom Sihanouk and his spouse by Vietnamese top leaders and Vietnam's assistance to the Cambodian people in overthrowing the Pol Pot regime and advancing the process of national building.

King Norodom Sihamoni highly appreciated the good friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries over the past years with efforts by the two governments, saying that maintaining the friendship is one of the words passed by the late King.

The King spoke about the efforts of both governments to strengthen comprehensive bilateral cooperation and bring practical benefits to their peoples and contribute to peace and prosperity in the region and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) community.

At the meeting, PM Chinh believed that Cambodia will develop and prosper with a higher international status under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni.

The leaders and people of Vietnam always appreciate the affection and support that the late King Norodom Sihanouk, King Norodom Sihamoni, the leaders and people of Cambodia have shown to Vietnam on its path to liberation and unification, as well as the modern socio-economic growth, PM Chinh said.

He hoped that King Sihamoni will support the two nations to foster their relationship and that Cambodia will facilitate Vietnamese people and firms living and running business there.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Chinh conveyed President Nguyen Xuan Phuc's invitation to King Sihamoni to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time next year.

On the same day, Prime Minister Chinh paid a courtesy call to Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk and conveyed to her greetings from Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and senior Vietnamese leaders on the 100th anniversary of the birth of late King Norodom Sihanouk.
