The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was closed from June 15 to August 15 for annual maintenance and renovation.
The site is an iconic landmark of Hanoi and stands integrated to the political and social history of Vietnam. Located in the center of Ba Dinh Square, the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is also one of Hanoi’s main tourist attractions.
After his death on September 2, 1969, President Ho Chi Minh was preserved and laid to rest in this granite mausoleum. The mausoleum was built from 1973 to 1975 even during the Vietnam War. Construction materials, plants and bonsais were donated by people from all over the country.
The site is normally open to the public every morning from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, except on Monday and Friday. The dress code for visitors is very strict, and requires legs to be covered.

At night, visitors can also view the mausoleum light up and a national flag lowering ceremony.
Nearly 51,000 people, including nearly 3,000 foreigners visited the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum during holidays in celebration of the 43rd National Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1) in 2018, according to the management board.
