The Nam Phuc Tho Industrial Cluster will be a solution to the demand for production space.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 9 to kick off the construction of the Nam Phuc Tho Industrial Cluster Project, Phuc Tho District, on the outskirts of Hanoi, ahead of the 70th anniversary of the Capital's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - 2024).

The project is the concretization of the orientations of the industrial cluster development plan in the city.

The Nam Phuc Tho Industrial Cluster covers nearly 42 hectares and has a total investment of about VND780 billion (US$31.6 million).

With a prime location on National Highway 32, it is easily accessible from downtown Hanoi and neighboring districts. The Nam Phuc Tho Industrial Cluster is expected to contribute to promoting and expanding intra-regional economic cooperation opportunities as well as utilizing the potential and advantages of the locality.

The project is expected to become a center of concentrated industrial production, provide jobs for workers, help stabilize people's lives, and ensure social security.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Dinh Son, Chairman of the Phuc Tho District People's Committee, said that there are seven handicraft villages in the district, with thousands of households engaged in industrial and handicraft production. The demand for production space for handicraft workshops is very high, so the district has paid special attention to building industrial clusters in recent years to meet it.

In 2020, the Hanoi People's Committee established 6 industrial clusters in Phuc Tho District, with a total area of 94 hectares. At present, 3 industrial clusters with a total area of about 37.5 hectares have become operational. "The clusters consolidate production facilities into concentrated production areas, which will help reduce environmental pollution in residential areas."

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said that the city has so far built 26 of the 43 planned industrial clusters, and the Nam Phuc Tho Industrial Cluster is the 27th.

The deputy chairman made a request to the departments, agencies, and Phuc Tho District of the city to facilitate the investor's project implementation, eliminate obstacles, and expedite the completion of administrative procedures.

Hanoi has ten industrial zones with a total area of 1,300 hectares. Nine of them are active and almost fully leased, while the Hanoi South Ancillary Industry Park is under construction. In 2022, these parks generated $8.1 billion in revenue, up 4.1% year-on-year, with combined exports estimated at $5.1 billion and imports at $4.3 billion.

By 2030, Hanoi aims to have 159 industrial clusters with a total area of 3,200 ha, expand five clusters established between 2017 and 2020 with a total area of about 45 ha, and build 21 new clusters with an area of about 536 ha.

The city authorities have urged investors to accelerate the construction of technical infrastructure for 24 industrial clusters. Of these, five have completed their technical infrastructure and are now ready to receive secondary investors, while six others have completed 90% of their infrastructure and are expected to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2024.

It also aims to ensure that all new and existing clusters are equipped with wastewater treatment facilities that meet national standards.
